What am I going to do with my life?...What kind of person do I want
to be?....How do I let my life speak?...many students grapple with
these types of questions while under the pressures of the professional
career rat race. In the Vocation Mentorship, students apply for and are matched with
personally selected mentors to discuss “What You Really Want,”
debate ethically challenging case scenarios, and share in the mentors’
resources. Former participants eagerly tapped into the life experiences,
maturity, wisdom and openness of the mentors through individual and group
sessions.
If you are interested in applying for future sessions, send an email to sdieterle@fccb.org to ensure that you will be informed of the next information sessions and application process. To read about some of the people who hve served as mentors, review current mentor files.
Progressive Students of Faith (PSoF)
The primary purpose of this student group (undergrad and graduates) is to unify spiritual progressives and to strengthen the voice of progressive people of faith on Cal’s campus. This group was established in response to the 2004 presidential election by students of faith who felt the Christian Right was shutting out other faithful perspectives on politics and social issues.
This student group engages about faith, values, God, religion, spirit and all that matters in an open, safe, caring, supportive and inquisitive environment. With the impending political fervor this fall, you want to be a part of this group. To stay informed of events, or to participate in the planning team, contact Shelly at sdieterle@fccb.org.

Science and Religion
More info to come!
The cultural debate about creationism and evolution is an important one for progressive students of faith. In a recent series of talks at FCCB, experts in the fields of Science and Religion presented their views. Listen to Dr. Ted Peters, seminary professor and co-author of Evolution from Creation to New Creation: Conflict, Conversation, and Convergence and Dr. Robert Russell, founder and director of the Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences at the Graduate Theological Union.
All students (graduate and undergraduate from Cal, the GTU and other local campus communities) are invited to this free lunch. We’ll gather at Durant House (get map) for each of the first Sundays throughout the academic year for food, conversation and connection. This is a great opportunity for students, and friends of students, who are involved with FCCB, Progressive Students of Faith, the Vocation Mentorship and the many other programs to meet one another. Significant others and friends are always welcome!
